Ocean waves campground5/24/2023 Sites are kind of cramped so if you tend to enjoy being more spread out, it may not be to your liking. No trash pickup, but dumpsters are located frequently throughout the park, I never noticed them overflowing either. We brought our SwiftPaws lure coursing system with us and were able to set it up. ![]() There was always a laugh or two to be had.Įveryone was really good about adhering to the 10pm quiet hours.ĭog park was well maintained and large enough. When we arrived they said they had someone out there until 10pm to guide people in.Įveryone that we interacted with staff wise were amazing and helpful. Stayed in our vehicle and was met at the gate. We worked during the week and didn't utilize too many of the amenities at the campground.Ĭheck in was super easy. The campground is on the right about 1/4 mile past the lumber store.Husband and I stayed here 7/3 - 7/9 2022 and really enjoyed ourselves. Keep your eyes on the right, Ocean Waves Campground is about two miles into the village on the right. You’ll pass the famous Cape Hatteras Light House in Buxton, and also go through the town of Avon before getting to the triple villages of Salvo, Waves, and Rodanthe. Once in Ocracoke follow Rt-12 north, you’ll have to take a free ferry from Ocracoke Island onto Hatteras Island. Look for Ocean Waves Campground on the left approx 1/4 mile past the KOA.įrom southern NC: Follow Rt-70 north out of Morehead City to the ferry docks on Cedar Island. Eventually you’ll come upon the triple villages of Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo. Continue south on Rt-12 crossing over Oregon Inlet on the Bonner Bridge. Follow Rt-12 south into the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Within a mile you’ll come to the junction of NC-12 at the town of Whalebone. ![]() You’ll cross the Croatan Sound onto Manteo then another bridge to the outerbanks. Look for Ocean Waves Campground on the left approx 1/4 mile past the KOA.įrom central NC: Utilize Rt-64 from Raleigh, through Rocky Mount and Williamston. ![]() ![]() South of Nags Head in the village of Whalebone and the intersection with Rt-64, Rt-12 will turn south into the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. One mile after you cross the Albemarle Sound Rt-158 will end, and you’ll pick up Rt-12, follow Rt-12 south through the towns of Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, and Nags Head. Follow Rt-168 south until it merges with Rt-158 in Barco NC. This is a toll road, and will cost $2 per car, and $1 for each additional axle. Bonner Bridge that crosses over Oregon Inlet.įrom Virginia: Exit I-64 at exit #290-B for Rt-168 south.
